# Act I: Subtle Suspicions
In the quiet town of Napanoch, New York, lies a grand and antiquated edifice; the Shanley Hotel. Founded in 1895, the hotel satisfied a smorgasbord of materials, from lavish parties to mournful funerals. The original owners, James and Beatrice Shanley, ran the place with warmth and vigor. Yet, the affable couple was no stranger to misfortune as they lost their lives in the Hotel. As the story crept into the present, things began to change. The hotel, now run by utter strangers to the Shanleys, grew quasi-silent, retaining the walls’ whispers and floors’ faint echoes of movement, like an inexplicable gush of wind.
An investigation by aspiring ghost whisperers dared to penetrate the haunted past, raising the hair of the locals and painting broad smiles across the youngsters’ faces. But the truest thrill was not awaiting outside on the snow wrapped streets but hidden within the eerie bricks of the magnificent Shanley Hotel.
